Drum Lessons
Drum lessons by Jon Steinmeier are rooted in technique and rudiment practice. We begin working exclusively with the hands, from grip to control to stroke to accents, paradiddles, flams, rolls, etc. This is complimented by reading snare drum music and basic rhythms, and beginning to work with a metronome. Drumset study often begins as the transferring of this knowledge to more drums, and expanding the whole scenario to include the feet, beginning with bass drum and hi-hat technique and independence. Drum lessons also include style study, form study, composition and arranging, and transcription of parts. Advanced students may study chops/speed, soloing, polyrhythms, etc... All lessons by Jon Steinmeier are geared toward the students specific goals, and are taught at the student's pace.
